The Dead - "Free The Dead" NYC Taxi Tour

To celebrate The Dead starting their new tour. They played three concerts on Friday March 30th. All the shows were free to their fans. Now, that is cool. Wish I lived in New York. Fortunately, some very nice Deadheads took the time to record these concerts and share them with the rest of us. Big big THANK YOU to them. The first show was acoustic. The second was electric. These are audience recordings. And they both sound amazing. The Blender Theater concert sounds amazingly clear. You just can't beat the sound of Neumann microphones. The Angel Orensanz Center for the Arts concert is just a bit shy, but still sounds wonderful. The tour kicks off April 12th, in Greensboro, North Carolina at the Coliseum. A bunch of my friends and I are making the trip. And from there I'm off to Boston to see them on the 18th and 19th. See everybody opening night for the Long Strange Trip.

The Brian Jonestown Massacre - The Independent, SF.3/18/2009

So, The Brian Jonestown Massacre are playing in Atlanta, on Friday the 10th, and man, I can't wait to hear this psychedelic music. Just picked up tickets today. The opener is called Flavor Crystals. I got a chance to listen to a hear few songs today, and they sound very interesting. Definitely a good choice for an opener. I'm going to make the trek in early to check them out. Some exciting news about BJM is Matt Hollywood and Joel Gion are back with the band. This is the icing, man. It's been along time since I've seen them play together. Oddly enough it was years ago at a bar in Atlanta called The Point, RIP. It was a awesome venue to see a awesome band. To celebrate this coming concert here is a show from earlier on this tour. Live at the Independent in San Fransisco, CA. This is an audience recording that sounds pretty damn good. Not to mention the set list. Enjoy the music, and I hope to see some of you at the show. SPIRITUALIZED TO PLAY LADIES AND GENTLEMEN LIVE IN LONDON

Spiritualized will play 'Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space' live in it's entirety at London's Royal Festival Hall.

The 1997, No. 4 charting, classic album will be performed in full on October 12, 2009, with the band accompanied by a choir and string and horn sections.

Coinciding with the live gig, an expanded Legacy Edition of the album will be released in October, with added material and new packaging. More details to be confirmed.

The Ladie and Gentlemen show is the first Don't Look Back show announced so far. The annual series, organised by All Tomorrow's Parties sees bands revisit classic albums live. Previous participants include Teenage Fanclub and The Lemonheads.

Tickets for the DLB Spiritualized show will go on sale on Thursday March 19th at 10am.

Change can be a mild pain in the ass.

So, apparently one of the hosting sites that I use has changed some of their policies. The one that screws things up here is their new 14 day policy. If a file is inactive for more than 14 days they pull it. Originally there was no time limit. This to me is a bit ridiculous and extreme. Most host site at least give you 30 to 90 days. Fortunately, I had a feeling they might do something like this. Though I didn't think they would be this hardcore about it. If anyone knows of a good storage site with unlimited time, that let you upload files above 100mb. Please let me know in the comments. I hope to find a new homes for our psychedelic doses real soon. In the meantime, if there is something down that you would like to hear let me know in the comments of that album. I will re-upload the album as quick as possible. Again any help finding new storage sites will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Phish - Hampton Coliseum, Hampton, VA March 6-8, 2009

For the lucky ones who got to experience this three day reunion, I hope you had a great time. For the 194 that ended up in jail, I hope you get out soon. Now, for the rest of us who did not have the means, the luck, or ended up in jail before the music began, all is not lost. Phish is being generous enough to share these three nights with us. For free even. You can download the complete concerts in mp3 format for free. You also have the opportunity to purchase far superior sounding formats aka. CD's or FLAC files. Which after listening to the first night, I might just end up doing. These soundboards are awesome. They have a nice blend of audience mixed in, so it doesn't sound dry. Personally, for the past ten to eleven years, I haven't been all that into Phish. These concerts have refreshed my love for their music. Or at the very least made me feel nostalgic for times gone by. Back when my friends and I would see them play in venues with under a thousand people. OK, enough of that flashbacking crap. Check'em out at LivePhish.com. The only thing you have to do is register when you get there. It takes all of two seconds. Well worth the effort.

Apparently, there are going to be two versions of this video. This being the first.

The Rolling Stones 10/15/1981 Seattle Wa.

The Rolling Stones on their Tattoo You Tour. This is a very balanced soundboard recording. I've noticed that the vocals tend to be way up top, on quite a few of the soundboards, on the 1981 tour. This is not the case with this show. All the instruments are pretty clear and present. Not to mention this is one hepped up show. You can hear the cocaine on this one. They are playing at lightening speed. It just makes you want to jump up, and start doing your best Mick Jagger impersonation. And hell why not it's a rocking set. So, grab yourself a bottle of Jack, a doobie and have at it.

New York Dolls New Album

New York Dolls reveal new album tracklisting

Todd Rundgren, who produced New York Dolls' 1973 self-titled debut album, is set to reunite with the band and produce...

The New York Dolls have revealed the tracklisting of their forthcoming album.

The band is set to release 'Cause I Sez So' on May 5 in the US. The album sees the band reuniting with producer Todd Rundgren, who recorded the iconic group's 1973 debut.

"It was amazing working with Todd again, and I think we were able to evoke the special sound of our first album and drag it by the hair into the present," frontman David Johansen said in a statement.

The album tracklisting is:

Dungen P3 Live Session 12/6/2008

Here is a great sounding live in studio FM broadcast, out of Svenska Grammofonstudion, Göteborg, Sweden. Unfortunately, if you don't speak the language the interviews wont do much for you. Don't let this stop you from getting this. The music (10tracks) sounds amazing. I just cut out the interview parts, and went straight for the beautiful psychedelic sounds. Dungen is one of the top bands keeping psychedelic music alive and fresh. Every album is gets better and better. If you ever get a chance to see them live, don't pass it up. I got to see them play at the Earl a couple of times. It was a mind expanding, ear orgasm. Looking forward to their return.

'Revolution 1' Take 20 ???

A previously unreleased version of The Beatles' 'Revolution 1' has found its way online.

The recording, which is supposedly 'Take 20' of the song, is available to listen to via a YouTube link below.

'Take 20' of the song is notable, as it appears to bridge the gap between The Beatles' 'Revolution 1' and 'Revolution 9'.

The main difference in the 'new' version of 'Revolution 1' and the version of the same song that appeared on 'The Beatles' (commonly known as 'The White Album') is the track's length. The unreleased version is a full seven minutes longer than its released counterpart.

Lyrically and structure-wise, the song doesn't differ wildly from the released version, although the entire second half of the unreleased version is made up of tape loops, vocal effects and studio trickery - some of which appears to have been sampled by The Beatles for use on their sample-heavy 'Revolution 9' track, which also appears on 'The White Album'.

'Take 20' of the song begins with the band talking in the studio, where John Lennon is heard saying "Take your knickers off and let's go" in a high-pitched voice.

The band then begin playing the song.

Although 'Revolution 1 (Take 20)' soon mutates into five minutes of assorted backwards singing and screaming from the band, the drums, guitars and George Harrison's vocal of "Om-shooby-do-wop" still remain throughout.

Towards the ten-minute mark, the song breaks down into a barrage of speech and from John Lennon and Yoko Ono.

Blogs across the internet are hosting the song, with some fans hailing it as 'the holy grail' of unreleased material.

However, it is yet to be officially confirmed as being authentic.

I know this video has nothing to do with music. But I found it to be very enlightening. It really gives you a strong understanding, of why we are in such a sad state of economical affairs. The video explains it in a way that will not bore you to sleep. So what the hell? Give it watch. You might learn something. Or at the very least be able to easily explain it to someone else.
