Dandy Warhols - Welcome to the Alternate Mix.

So, I just won tickets to see The Dandy Warhols tonight, which is a great start for the day. Thank you Criminal Records. To celebrate this good fortune, I thought I would share this version of "Welcome To The Monkey House." Not exactly sure the whole history on this. From what I can remember, I think this is before Nick Rhodes added his Duran Duran touches to the album. It gives the album a whole different sound. Its more of a dirty psychedelic rock sound than the released final version. Both are great just different. If you get a chance to see them live, don't pass it up. I had a great time seeing them on their last tour. Which makes me excited to see them tonite.
Enjoy.

Beck, 2008-08-31, The Independent, San Francisco CA

You can check this concert out at Waves And Wires. Listen to the stream of the songs individually, or download the whole show. This is an audience recording of pretty good quality. It's in the B sounding range. It sounds rather distant and the crowd is definitely having a damn good time. Beck's been playing Bob Dylan's "Leopard Skin Pill-Box Hat" on this tour. Which is something worth checking out. So, go have a listen.

New Riders Of The Purple Sage, Sellersville Theater 2008-08-10

This is an excellent audience recording by taper Edtyre. Once again those schoeps mk-4 microphones bring that beautiful sound of a live concert home. The New Riders are in top form on this night. It's great to have them back and touring again. With each show I see, or hear recorded, they get stronger and stronger. This show is dedicated to Jerry Garcia and his August passing. They have dedicated the whole month to him. Note. Garcia was part of this band in its beginning. You can hear some of these early recordings at The Live Music Archive. Back to this show. It's a high energy night. They play a few new songs co-written by Hunter and Nelson that are pretty damn good. I like "Blues Barrel" quite a bit. And I'm sure with time these songs will be as strong as "Henry," "Dirty Business," and "Peggy-O." Thank you Edtyre for the hard work recording this Psychedelic Country. Can't wait to hear more.
Set List:

I Don't Know You

Blues Barrel
Sing Me A Rainbow
Dirty Business
Olivia Rose
Rockin' With Nona

Devendra Banhart - White Session

This is great sounding bootleg. Nice and simple. Just vocals and guitar. And bizarre lyrics, of which you would expect nothing less from Banhart. If you haven't gotten a chance to hear this psychedelic folk man, this is a good place to start out. It reminds me of Eduardo Mateo and his album "Mateo Solo Bien Se Lame." But in English.
