Pavement - 09/18/2010 Agganis Arena Boston, MA

This is a fucking spectacular audience recording. I've actually had this for quite sometime, but just recently got around to really listening. I wish I had payed attention sooner. This show has everything you want to hear. They really did a great performance. It's high energy, and tight playing. I mean as tight as Pavement can be that is. The two encores (6 songs) are great as well. "Fin","Rattled By The Rush" and "Range Life" make this recording worth having alone. Of all the recording I have gotten from this tour, this is by far the best. Don't be like me and wait. Listen to it right away. Enjoy.

Bob Dylan 1963-02-08 Gerdes Folk City Banjo Tape

Here something for the Dylan collectors out there. I don't have much info about this. It's Bob playing his guitar with a couple of other musicians playing here and there. This version was remastered by Neuthorduo.  Considering the age of this recording it sounds great. There is slight tape hiss, but it does not detract from the music at all. What's cool about this recording is the tape just keeps rolling from song to song. So you got all the banter between Dylan, and the other people in the room with him. And they are having a damn good time. Helps give a feeling of being in there with them. Like a stoned fly on the wall, if you will.

Tracks:

Lonesome River Edge (Trad)
Back Door Blues (Trad)
Bob Dylan's Dream
You Can Get Her (Trad)
Farewell
All Over You
Masters Of War
Instrumental (Fragment)
Keep Your Hands Off Her (Leadbelly)
Honey Babe (Trad)
Goin' Back To Rome
Stealin' (Trad. Memphis Jug Band arr.)

Led Zeppelin - Nassau Coliseum, Uniondale, New York 02/14/1975

This is a soundboard released by the Empress Valley Supreme label. I got to say they did a pretty good job with this board tape. I've heard other versions that don't have the same punch. The first couple of songs sound a bit unbalanced, but that is the mix just getting pulled together. The only thing, that I'd have to say is, that the high end can be a bit much at times. But you can equalize that down on your stereo. Overall, it's a great concert, with a strong sound. A must listen for all Zep lova's.

Set List:
(CD1)
01     Rock And Roll
02     Sick Again

The Pink Floyd - High Time

I just got a copy of this very recently. Thank you "A DoinkerTape" for sharing and converting your vinyl copy with us. This is taken from a limited edition vinyl release. Only a hundred apparently have been circulated. I will let "A DoinkerTape" explain the details of this recording.

"Side one features three tunes from the "Rome Goes Pop! program(me): Astronomie Domine, Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun, and Interstellar Overdrive. The first two tracks are sourced from a VPRO-FM radio rebroadcast on 1988-04-29. The third track is an audio rip from the television broadcast on ARD TV (West Germany) from 1968-05-18. The quality is simply stunning."

"Side two is pre-FM sourced from the program(me) John Peel's Night Ride: Granchester Meadows (Daybreak), Cymbaline (Nightmare), Green Is The Colour (The Beginning/Beset By Creatures Of The Deep), and The Narrow Way. The last track is of mention as it contains vocals. For those of you unfamiliar with the extra titles, these tracks were performed on the road during 1969 as part of a concept piece "The Man and The Journey". The versions presented here are notable for their differences from the normal concert routine."

I couldn't agree more with the quality of this recording. It is amazing. I highly recommend this to all Pink Floyd collectors. Be it hardcore, or light listener, you will not be disappointed.

The Kinks - 03/08/1987 The Riviera Night Club Chicago, IL

I haven't shared some Kinks in awhile. So, here is a new one that I recently come across. What we have here is a live FM broadcast, from WXRT, in Chicago. You may recognize this concert from Westwood One. The major difference between the two, is WXRT was first to broadcast the concert. And this is the complete concert, Westwood One left out several songs. So, now you can have to whole thing. As far as quality goes, the show sounds wonderful. Best of all they play some of my favorites. Like "Low Budget,""Gallon of Gas," and "Twentieth Century Man." This id a great show (HOT,HOT,HOT) with a great set list. Enjoy.

John Lee Hooker - Bellstar Lounge, Colden, NY 4/4/79

I've always been a big fan of John Lee Hooker. I love listening to him play with just a guitar, and no band. This soundboard recording however, is with a backing band. John Lee Hooker and the Coast To Coast Blues Band. I haven't come across any recordings that sound all that good with just him. This is a nice straight up blues. The recording sounds great. Enjoy.

Set List:

1 My Baby Left Me
2 Instrumental
3 Losin' Hand
4 Raining ?
5 One Bourbon One Scotch and One Beer
6 Serve Me Right to Suffer
7 Rock Steady
8 When My First Wife Left Me
9 Boogie Chillun

I hope to see some of you people tomorrow night at the Furthur concert in Atlanta.  Should be a rocking time. Try not to melt your brains to much. Lord knows I will be. Be safe and mindful of each other, and hopefully that will be enough to keep us all out of trouble. And try not to let the ballon man get yeah. He's sneaky, and gets me every time.

King Crimson - 1973/06/23 Atlanta, GA

Alright, this is a nice weird one, from the ever changing King Crimson. This soundboard was recorded live at Richard's Club, Atlanta GA, June 6th, 1973. This recording was a live radio broadcast, but this source is pre FM. If you're a Crimson fan, this is a good one for your collection. The sound is really good, just a tiny bit of tape hiss on the real quite parts. Although, I think it is actually coming from the amps. Otherwise, you've got some strong psychedelic rocking music. With a couple of tripped out jams in between.

Set List:
1. Doctor Diamond
2. Larks' Tongues in Aspic, Part One
3. MC
4. Easy Money
5. Improvisation #1
6. Exiles
7. Book of Saturday
8. Improvisation #2
9. Talking Drum
10. Larks' Tongues in Aspic, Part Two

Miles Davis - 10/22/1971 Zürich Switzerland

West 77th Street, New York, 1971 © Anthony Barboza
I've kinda been on an electric Miles kick for the last few weeks. So, I thought I'd share, what I've been listening too, with you. This is another FM source recording, but unlike the last one, this sounds a lot cleaner. The recording has nice stereo separation, as well as nice highs and smooth lows.  This concert clocks in at almost 80 minutes, which gives your ears time to really sink into it. And of coarse Miles and the band tear it up like only they can.

Set List:
1. Directions (13:04)
2. What I Say? (10:58)
3. Sanctuary (03:42)
4. It's About That Time (13:15)
5. Bitches Brew (11:55)
6. Funky Tonk (25:53)
7. Sanctuary (01:00)

Can - 1968-06 First Session

This is a must have for all hardcore Can listeners. It is supposedly the first ever session they played as a group. Clocking it around thirty minutes, there are two separate jams. This music is a bit looser than they will become in the future. Their sound jumps from jazz to pounding rock and many style between, and it is all held together with a rich psychedelic vibe. There is a nice review written by Doug Pearson included, that will explain this session further.

Miles Davis 1973/10/17 Boston Ma.

Here we have a nice sounding off air FM recording. This is a Jazz Workshop event from Berkley Music College, featuring Miles Davis. This recording is another one from WBCN's archives. Which again proves that this station used to be amazing. Miles takes it to the psychedelic edge with this preformance. The thirty plus minute version of "Ife" is unbelievable. As is his fourteen minute "Agharta Prelude." This is another great late night, red light listen.  Enjoy.

Set List:

1 Band warming up [Voiceover introduction]
2 Ife
3 Agharta Prelude
4 Zimbabwe
5 closing announcement

Cream - 10-15-1967

Since, I've got the time here's another amazing show. If you are a Cream fan, than I highly recommend this one. This soundboard is unbelievable. Absolutely, amazing jams. Eric and the band are out of fucking control, tearing up this show. The sound quality on this recording is A plus, and for 1967 that is saying a lot. I'm surprised The Grande Ballroom in Detroit, Michigan was still standing after this power trio was finished. They give it the full treatment on every song, the harmonica playing on "Traintime" is something to be heard. So, here is what I suggest. If you've got that small ball of hash you been saving, like me, for a special listening moment. Bust it out. And give this concert a high volume listen.
Set List:

1.Tales of Brave Ulysses,
2.N.S.U.
3.Sitting On Top of the World,
4.Sweet Wine,
5.Rollin’ and Tumblin’,
6.Spoonful,
7.Steppin’ Out,
8.Traintime,
9.Toad,
10.I’m So Glad

Blind Faith - London, England 06- 07-1969 Hyde Park

Well, it's been a while since I've posted anything new. Sorry about that. Been going through a lot of life crap. Like that's a big surprise for any of us. Alright, enough of that, let's get to the music. This is a really nice soundboard recording.  Recorded live in London at Hyde Park on June, 7th, 1969. This bootleg was made by Mid Valley. This company tends to put out some high quality recordings. You usually can't go wrong if their name is on it. And this is definitely one of those recordings. Blind Faith is going strong on this concert. They play a nice cover of "Under My Thumb" which is interesting, since The Rolling Stones will play Hyde Park in July of 1969. I've just started reading Keith Richards' book. He talks about how he would hang out with Eric quite a bit. So, I'm sure there is some kind of inside joke going on.
Enjoy the show.

Set List:

 1. Introduction
 2. Well All Right
 3. Sea of Joy
 4. Sleeping in the Ground
 5. Under My Thumb
 6. Can't Find My Way Home
 7. Do What You Like
 8. Presence of the Lord
 9. Means to an End
 10. Had to Cry Today
